Tyson Library Materials Loan Policy

Materials (books, audio-books, magazines and videotapes) in the Tyson Library are loaned to anyone having a valid Tyson Library Borrower’s Card. Videos/DVDs rated PG, PG-13 are not loaned to anyone under the age of 16 unless approved by a parent (signed registration card). Videos/DVDs rated R are loaned only on an adult card.

Loans

All materials are loaned for two-weeks. The exceptions to this loan policy are reference materials that do not circulate outside of the Library and current magazines – weekly magazines loan for three-days, monthly magazines loan for one week.

There is a limit of 10 items at any one-time per borrower.

Renewal of Loan

Items borrowed from the Library may be renewed 3 times in order to extend the loan period for two weeks per renewal with the exception of current magazines which cannot be renewed. Items may be renewed at the Library, by calling the Library (812-689-5894), by e-mail (tysonlib@seidata.com), or by use of the patron’s online account.

Overdue Fines

A fine of $.10 per day is charged for each item not returned by the due date.

Responsibility of borrower

Individuals who borrow items from the Tyson Library assume responsibility of the items in their possession. It is the responsibility of the borrower to return the items to the Library, or renew the loan of such items, by the due date of the loan.

Sharing items with a third party does not absolve the borrower-on-record of any responsibility.

Failure to return an overdue item will result in a fine, as calculated above, and loss of library privileges until the return of the item and any fine is paid.

Loss of, or damage to, a borrowed item will result in a charge for the replacement cost of the item and loss of library privileges, until the replacement charge and any applicable fine are paid.

Failure to acknowledge responsibility for lost or damaged items or failure to pay fines may result in legal prosecution.
